The BEAR (The British Ethical Agents' Register) is a not-for-profit Register of Talent Agents and Agencies operating ethically in the United Kingdom.
The BEAR will forever be accessible to the general public at no cost.
The purpose of The BEAR is to protect actors, actresses and performers from unscrupulous individuals operating or masquerading as Talent Agents.
Inclusion to The BEAR infers that Members are operating ethically in pursuant of their duties when representing talent. Please note, we can never guarantee the good behaviour of any of our Members, nor can we ever be held liable for the behaviour of others.
Agents seeking admission to The BEAR must be prepared to allow their clients to provide evidence of continuous ethical behaviour and be willing to be called upon to do so at anytime, (including following admission).
Initially, there will be two stages of Membership:
Provisional (working towards)
Full Membership is based on applicants agreeing to stipulated Terms & Conditions and by meeting the following 5-key criteria:
All Members agree to overtly publish, display, abide by and to be taken into account for their Company Values on a dedicated and easily accessible website page.
All Members will agree to allow their clients to be surveyed by Moderators of The BEAR to provide evidence that they believe their Agent/s are continuously behaving ethically.
All Members will agree to display The BEAR logo on their website indicating membership.
All Members will agree not to include or enforce any time period in relation to a client's notice of termination of representation.
All Members agree to never charge or request payment from potential or signed clients in order to affect or continue representation. The exception may only apply to registered Cooperative Agencies and each case will be taken on its own merit.
Provisional Membership will apply to Agencies that have applied for Membership and are now taking visible steps in meeting (working towards) the above 5-key criteria within an agreed time frame.
Members must accept that confirmed or suspected incidences of unethical behaviour will or may exclude them temporarily or permanently from membership of The BEAR and result in their details being removed from the Register.
Please note, The BEAR WILL NOT publish details of Agents or Agencies reported to be acting unethically.
